Each image in my portfolio has personal sentiment, although this is perhaps my most memorable from Deal, Kent.

My day began at 06:00 to travel to this location, upon arrival at 10:00 it was clear the elements were not ideal. On so many occasions I nearly called it a day and head home, but I persevered.

Some 12 hours later from the outset of my day and 1 hour after sunset, I decided to shoot from beneath the pier. The resulting image was a 4 minute exposure in relative darkness. Although as I was capturing the image, cars passing by were illuminating the underside of the pier.

What started out and continued to be a non-eventful day, resulted in one of my personal favourite pieces to date.
